Choose the game engine for indie adventure game developer

In the last two weeks or so, I have done some research on game engine for indie adventure game developer; the list below includes both freeware and commercial packages:

  • ·         Adventure Game Studio
  • ·         Adventure Maker
  • ·         Wintermute Engine
  • ·         Visionaire Studio
  • ·         Indielib
  • ·         Sparrow Framework
  • ·         Cocos2d / CocoStudio
  • ·         Adobe Director
  • ·         Adventure Creator (an independent package) + Unity
  • ·         Unity
  • ·         Multimedia Fushion 2.5 (actually ClickTeam Fushion 2.5 now)

I finally purchased ClickTeam Fushion 2.5 on Steam which is currently offering a discount. For me the most important feature of ClickTeam 2.5 is it supports ALL platform export, such as IOS, Android/OUYA, HTML5, etc. It even supports old fashioned SWF/Flash mode. Also, its visual programming interface looks quite intuitive.

Unity + Adventure Creator would be a powerful package as well; it also has great compatibility towards all platform export. But I think Adventure Creator as an extension of Unity tailors for making 3D adventure game. Besides, its user interface reminds me of those industrial software packages such as Maya, 3D Max, etc. A bit heavy to me…:-)
